Beaucoup de gens me demandent souvent d’où vient mon inspiration. Je leur réponds qu’elle me trouve bien souvent au détour d’une rencontre imprévue, pendant mes balades en nature. Elle surgit sans prévenir, portée par l’émotion qu’un sujet peut faire naître en moi.

Pour cette toile, c’est surtout l’éclat épatant des fleurs de tournesol qui m’a inspiré. Elles poussaient là, perdues mais splendides, sur une plage de sable à Sept-Îles, dans le Grand Nord québécois. Leur beauté et leur capacité à résister aux conditions dures, parfois même brutales, m’ont profondément touché.

Leur façon de s’étendre à l’horizontale avant de se redresser fièrement en une explosion de pétales dorés représente, pour moi, la force de résilience que tout être humain doit puiser en soi.

Étant passionné par le monde des oiseaux, j’ai voulu enrichir la scène en y ajoutant quelques colibris à gorge rubis. Malgré leur petite taille et leur apparente fragilité, ces petits bijoux ailés sont connus pour leur courage incroyable, leur détermination à défendre leur territoire et leur ténacité lors de leurs longues migration.

Many people often ask me where I get my inspiration. I tell them that it often finds me during an unexpected encounter while I’m out walking in nature. It strikes without warning, driven by the emotion that a subject can evoke in me.

For this painting, it was above all the stunning brilliance of the sunflowers that inspired me. They were growing there, isolated yet magnificent, on a sandy beach in Sept-Îles, in the far north of Quebec. Their beauty and their ability to withstand harsh, sometimes even brutal conditions deeply moved me.

The way they spread out horizontally before proudly straightening up in an explosion of golden petals represents, for me, the strength of resilience that every human being must draw from within.

As someone passionate about the world of birds, I wanted to enrich the scene by adding a few ruby-throated hummingbirds. Despite their small size and apparent fragility, these little winged jewels are known for their incredible courage, their determination to defend their territory, and their tenacity during their long migrations.
